  • Vine Customer Review of Free Product - Fuchsia KINTSUGI repair kit… not sure if the entire kit is food safe

I was gifted this Kintsugi repair kit for review, and it's great! As someone who's into all types of resin and other art forms, I really appreciate this kit and can't wait to see how it works. It's incredibly versatile; you can use it on porcelain, granite, marble, quartz, ceramic, glass, wood, and just about any similar material. This is a truly comprehensive, but small kit, providing just about everything you need to get started. It comes with the glue or resin, a little cup for stirring, stirring sticks, and gloves. You also get four different glitter colors: two shades of gold, one silver, and one that looks like bronze or rose gold. A cool feature is that the glitter is apparently edible, which is interesting! However, due to warnings about skin irritation, the kit's resin is likely not food safe, meaning repairs are mostly decorative. This inclusion of edible glitter feels a bit counterproductive when the main resin itself isn't food safe. If you would like to make a food safe repair, you would need to get an appropriate food safe resin or glue for that purpose, as such products do exist. I haven't had the chance to try it out yet, so I'm not sure how it will perform. But when one of my cups or plates breaks, this will be the first thing I use! BTW, if you've never used before, the instructions are on the tube of glue or resin

  • Vine Customer Review of Free Product - Instructions clear, took a while to harden

This kit cam with very clear instructions. I had a couple dishes with chips in them that I didn't want to get rid of, but I also didn't want to just leave the chips. There isn't an amount given of how much glitter to add, but I did a small amount to start (thinking I could add more) and it was plenty. Since it's resin, make sure you do it in a well ventilated area. It did take a good 72 hours to harden, but I didn't use a UV light to speed up the process. It's been through the dishwasher several times now and is staying put. It didn't turn out as pretty as I'd imagined, but I blame my inexperience for that. I will continue to use this if we have other dishes develop chips.

  • Verified Purchase - Love this kit!

Okay- so I kinda love this stuff. It's not perfect, but I am pretty sure that is what this is all about. I broke a favorite decorative porcelain piece in a cross country move. I don't eat out of this dish, but I do use it in my living room to hold decor. I decided to try this kit. It shipped and arrived extremely fast. I followed the directions and used my own gloves. I tried to custom mix two of the gold colors and I wish I would've just used one, but I'm still happy with the results. My break was one long break, which makes it a little less esthetically appealing with the gold glue. At any rate I mixed up a full little bowl of the glue and gold dust. I carefully applied it on one entire break. Then I squeezed them together and held them for at least 3 mins. The glue activated (got warm), and was almost completely solid by the time I was done holding it. I do wish I wouldn't have placed the bowl on a paper towel, but I know the paper will wash off the bottom where it got stuck. I also kind of wish I would have smeared the glue a little versus leaving it in a bead along the seam. Maybe it would've looked more like gold leaf. At any rate, I loved the whole thing and I hope it is still good if I need to use it again. I was able to life the entire leftover chunk out of the bowl to reuse the bowl again.

  • Functional and beginner friendly

I used this kit to repair a butter crock, and the process itself was fairly easy to follow. The materials were well organized and the instructions were clear enough for a first-time use. From a functional standpoint, the repair held and the item is usable again.

That said, while it works, the final result wasn't especially pretty. Application takes practice if you want clean, decorative lines, and first attempts are likely to look a bit rough. This is a good kit for learning and functional repairs, but expect a learning curve if aesthetics are the main goal.

  • Beautiful, Easy-to-Use Kit That Turns Breakage into Art

I'm absolutely in love with this Kintsugi repair kit! Not only did it help me restore a cherished ceramic bowl I thought was beyond saving, but it also gave me a new appreciation for the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection.
